FlightAware shows the aircraft take off at 2:48 p.m. Friday, March 22, from Austin, Texas, before landing in Birmingham, Alabama just after 5 p.m. About one hour into the flight, the plane drops in speed and altitude before landing at BHM.

The flight landed safely Friday and the aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by a maintenance team, American Airlines stated.

“We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and apologize for the inconvenience,” American Airlines said in a released statement on Tuesday.

The B738 is a member of the Boeing B737 family of aircraft.
