8 injured in Sylmar crash, including 4 children

Eight people were hurt, two of them seriously, in a multi-vehicle crash in Sylmar Thursday afternoon.

The crash in the 14900 block of West Hubbard Street was reported just before 3 p.m., according to an alert from the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Aerial footage from Sky5 showed at least four vehicles involved, all of which had sustained significant damage and one of which was flipped over onto its roof.

Fire officials initially said as many as nine people were hurt, though in an update, that number was revised to eight, of which two declined transport to local hospitals.

Of the six who were transported, two were adults in serious condition, while the other four were children between the ages of 6 and 12.

The children all sustained minor injuries, though the LAFD noted the crash could’ve been much worse.

“Though seatbelts were used, some of the children were improperly restrained (No car seats in use, at least two children sharing one seat belt). Thankfully, none of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle(s),” they wrote.
