By now, you know that you can't get healthy skin by slathering on product after product and doing nothing else. Sure, it's good to remove your makeup every night (actually, scratch that - it's required that you scrub that shit off every night), swipe your face with a toner to fight discoloration, and find a good retinol to ward off wrinkles. But let's be honest: Your skin is needy and wants more.

Which is yet another reason why you should be paying attention to your diet. Because Keri Glassman, R.D., nutritionist to celebs like Eva Mendes and J.Lo (yeah, women who seem to have flawless skin), says you are what you eat, and what you eat can actually help you achieve a pretty damn fine complexion.

"What's inside your refrigerator reflects your lifestyle and priorities," she says. So if you want acne-free skin, your fridge shouldn't be loaded with sugar-laden containers or foods loaded with processed ingredients.

Plus, if wondering what people think about you is your thing, a recent national survey conducted by LG Electronics found that 82 percent of Americans shape their opinion of someone based on the contents of their fridge, and 57 percent will judge you based on how clean and organized it is. Translation: Lots of fresh, colorful food makes people think more highly of you. It sounds a little effed up, but it is what it is.

There are other benefits to that pretty-looking food, though. Glassman says just seeing it in your fridge will inspire you to eat well overall (and thus score better skin). Why? They're bright, colorful and, in a way, beautiful. "When something looks beautiful, you feel better. It's like the glass of water with lemon in the spa," she says. "You're more inspired to drink water when you see that beautiful pitcher of water versus a bland stand-alone glass. We're such visual people; it's why we like looking at photos on Instagram. You're just more inspired."

Studies also show that if you place healthier options in the front of your fridge, you're more likely to eat them. Which makes sense, given that there's clearly a convenience factor at play.

But one question remains: what exactly should you be loading up on in the grocery store if good-looking skin is the end goal? Here's what Glassman keeps stocked into her own fridge - the fancy LG InstaView, no less, because then you can double-tap the door to see what lurks inside, and that's just fun. Watch the video below to find out what goes on each shelf, and why.
