6 hospitalized, 2-year-old seriously injured after car crashes into Franklin County home

UPDATE: 2 P.M. FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — VSP has released new details after a man crashed his car through a home in Franklin County leaving several people hospitalized on Tuesday night.

According to state police, the youngest victim was a 2-year-old boy. We’re told he sustained life-threatening injuries.

The following victims involved in the crash were:

  • 28-year-old female, non-life-threatening injuries

  • 69-year-old female, non-life-threatening injuries

  • 8-year-old male, non-life-threatening injuries

  • 8-year-old female, non-life-threatening injuries

VSP confirmed that the driver of the Mustang is a 32-year-old man and he is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation; however, police have said the driver was wearing his seatbelt.

“The investigating trooper will consult with the Franklin County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office when the investigation has been completed, as to any charges that will be placed,” said State police in a release.



UPDATE: 7:24 A.M. FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police (VSP) have confirmed that charges will be pending after a Mustang drove through a home in Franklin County leaving several people injured including children on April 23.

The crash occurred at 8:51 p.m. on Tuesday. VSP said a 2006 Ford Mustang was traveling on Foggy Ridge Road and ran off the road. The Mustang then drove through the home and landed in the backyard.

We’re told six people including three children and the driver were taken to several hospitals in the area. At this time, one adult and a child are in critical condition.

The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction team was called to assist with the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.



FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — At least six people were rushed to the hospital after a car drove through a home hitting several people including children in Franklin County on Tuesday night.

The Franklin County Department of Public Safety says the call came in around 9 p.m. on April 23 for a crash near Iron Ridge Road and Foggy Ridge Road.

At the scene, first responders learned a Mustang crashed into a house hitting several people, and landed in the backyard.

Details are limited; however, the department says three adults and three children were taken to the hospital for treatment. We’re told one adult and a child are in critical condition.

The Franklin County Fire Marshal, deputies, and the Virginia State Police responded to the scene.
