7 Berks school districts get a total of $2.4 million in safety grants
Apr. 25—Seven school districts in Berks County have been awarded a combined $2.4 million in competitive grants to improve security and mental health support for students and staff at those districts.
The grants were approved Wednesday by the School Safety and Security Committee under the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The awards complete the $155 million school safety grants program package appropriated in the bipartisan 2023-24 state budget.
The grants were given to the following recipients:
Berks Career and Technical Center — $428,188
Boyertown School District — $297,768
Brandywine Heights School District — $434,388
Fleetwood School District — $450,000
Gov. Mifflin School District — $266,176
Hamburg School District — $400,000
Kutztown School District — $135,000
