68-year-old man dies in hospital four days after crash in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A man has died in the hospital after a two-vehicle crash that happened on Friday, April 26.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), a 2003 Ford F-150 driven by 68-year-old James Posey, of Fyffe, struck a 1996 Ford F-350 on Alabama 72 near DeKalb County 72, approximately two miles south of Rainsville around 2:50 p.m.

ALEA says that both drivers were transported to DeKalb Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries. According to ALEA, Posey was not using a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

James Posey was pronounced dead four days later on Tuesday, April 30th while at Erlanger Baroness Hospital, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The crash remains under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
