5th suspect arrested in Porterville armed robbery of juvenile, PD says

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A fifth suspect has been arrested Saturday following an armed robbery of a juvenile at Zalud Park in Porterville the day before, according to the Porterville Police Department.

Juvenile robbed in Porterville park, 4 arrested, PD says

Police say on Friday night they responded to Zalud Park for a reported armed robbery where, upon arrival, had contacted a juvenile boy who had been robbed at gunpoint by two people.

Officers say the suspects fled in a vehicle that was located soon after and arrested four of the occupants. One additional suspect ran from the vehicle and was not located that evening.

After further investigation, detectives identified 18-year-old Israel Davalos, a Porterville resident and active criminal street gang member as the last remaining suspect in the Zalud Park incident.

On Saturday around 4:15 p.m., police say they located Davalos at a gas station in the sub-100 block of East Henderson Avenue where he was taken into custody. Detectives obtained a search warrant for his residence in the 1000 block of North Plano Street where they found additional evidence related to the robbery.

As a result, investigators report Davalos was booked under suspicion of robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a loaded firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, and participation in a criminal street gang.

Anyone with any information regarding this case or any other criminal street gang activity is asked to contact the Porterville Police Department at (559) 782-7400.
