52 aftershocks recorded in New Jersey following 4.8-magnitude earthquake

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — Fifty-two aftershocks have rattled the tri-state area since a 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit the tri-state area last Friday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the most recent tremor was recorded just before 3 p.m. Thursday, when a 1.7-magnitude earthquake hit near Califon, New Jersey.

The agency is tracking the aftershocks, which have ranged from magnitude 1.3 to 3.8, according to the USGS.

Officials said the latest tremors are not predictive of future quakes. No injuries or structural damage have been linked to the aftershocks, officials said.
