$50M lawsuit for Chesapeake Walmart mass shooting dismissed with prejudice

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A lawsuit connected to the 2022 Chesapeake Walmart mass shooting has been dismissed, according to attorneys.

Briana Tyler was suing Walmart for $50 million, stating the company was negligent while hiring Andre Bing, the employee that took the lives of six of Tyler’s coworkers.

The lawsuit claimed Tyler was directly targeted in the shooting and that Bing pointed a gun directly at her head and fired, just missing Tyler by inches.

In November of 2023, Tyler’s lawsuit hit a snag when Walmart claimed the shooting was a matter for workers’ compensation. A judge later ruled that the lawsuit could proceed.

A statement from Tyler’s attorney states the lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, as Tyler has, “resolved to her satisfaction all claims in the case.”
