5 arrested after Myrtle Beach police serve warrant due to ‘quality of life concerns’

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Five people were arrested and face charges after Myrtle Beach police Wednesday morning conducted a search warrant because of “numerous quality of life concerns.”

The warrant was served in the 1000 block of Poplar Drive at about 8:20 a.m., police said. The names and charges of the five are as follows:

  • James Albert Cook, 41, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

  • Christian Grant Fox, 23, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with possession of fentanyl and two counts of possession of a schedule IV narcotic.

  • Jose Leonardo Rodriguez, 29, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

  • Desmond Garnell Burks, 37, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with resisting a law enforcement officer serving process.

  • Bernard Burgess, 27, of Charleston, was charged with resisting a law enforcement officer serving process.

All five have bond hearings scheduled for Thursday.
