46-year-old Newark man arrested for soliciting 14-year-old girl
(KRON) — A 46-year-old man was arrested for allegedly soliciting a minor on Monday, the Redwood City Police Department said. The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m.
The victim, a 14-year-old girl, was walking home from school when a man in a white car started talking to her. The man, police said, asked the girl how old she was and asked for her cell phone number.
He also said, “Can I hit on you?”

He asked the girl to come closer to the vehicle. When she didn’t, he drove away. The girl went home and called Redwood City PD immediately.
Using the Flock system, detectives researched vehicles in the area that matched the description. Cameras caught a similar vehicle in the area. Detectives determined that the vehicle was registered to Neil Porras Prado of Newark.
An arrest warrant for Prado was obtained. On Thursday, detectives arrested him and seized electronic items belonging to him.
Prado was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on the following charges:
Contacting a minor with the intent to have sex
Annoying or molesting a victim under 18
