As this line of storms advanced and lifted across Johnson County into Leavenworth, Platte, Jackson and Clay counties, the NWS says embedded circulations developed. The majority resulted in isolated and brief paths of enhanced winds and straight line wind damage.

The NWS says four of these brief circulations resulted in brief, short-lived tornadoes.

The first tornado, an EF-1, happened in central Johnson County, near Gardner around 10:20 p.m.

The second EF-1 tornado happened in far western Shawnee, Kansas, just before 10:30 p.m.

Most notable damage was to a concession stand and administrative building near the track and football field at Mill Valley High School. Debris from this area was carried a few neighborhoods away, causing roof damage to two homes with loss of roof decking on the corner of one home.

The NWS said most of the damage was to trees with large trunks snapped higher up.

A second circulation began south of I-435 near Johnson County Community College and resulted in a sporadic path of straight line wind damage before developing a brief EF-1 tornado that crossed through the west and northwest side of Prairie Village.
