3rd Friday is back -- downtown Decatur festival starts tonight

Apr. 19—The first 3rd Friday festival of the year is tonight beginning at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Decatur.

Samuel Penn will perform on the Community Stage, between Johnston and Grant streets on Second Avenue, from 6-8 p.m. Also, check out the classic cars, line dancers and children's events.

Plenty of food trucks will be on site, including Sistaz n Town, The Lunch Wagon, El Palomino, Happi Pappi, Tacos los Chilangos, and Mama Faye's. Most downtown restaurants will remain open for the event.

The monthly festivals, held every third Friday from April to October at 5 p.m., will be held on Second Avenue.

According to Decatur police, no parking is permissible on Second Avenue from 3:30 p.m. until the festival concludes at 8:30 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service there is a slight chance of showers Friday evening with temperatures around 70 degrees.
