3M recalls 40,000 defective earmuffs

(WHTM) – 3M announced they are recalling approximately 40,000 earmuffs that could crack, leading to potential overexposure to noise noises.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled 3M™ Peltor™ X4 Series Earmuffs were produced from March 2020 through September 2022 and sold nationwide.

The earmuffs are black with green or orange accents and 3M PELTOR stamped on the outside. They also come in a variety of attachment styles including over the head, behind the head, hard-hat attached, or full-brim hard-hat attached.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Anyone with these earmuffs should immediately stop using them and contact 3M to receive free replacement earmuffs.
