33 Unforgettable Barbara Walters Style Moments

It's the end of an era. After five decades ruling the airwaves, Barbara Walters, America's favorite broadcast journalist, is finally bidding adieu to daily television. Over the course of her lengthy career, the fearless TV anchor has sat down with everyone from Margaret Thatcher to Fidel Castro. She has gone from the Today show to ABC Evening News, 20/20, and, of course, her current role as part-time host of The View (which she co-created and co-executive produces). She broke down barriers of sexism by becoming one of the first women to interview major political figures and heads of state and to serve as a co-anchor of a nightly news program. "She's a trailblazer who we all stand on the shoulders of," the Today show's Savannah Guthrie told InStyle.com at a farewell celebration for Walters at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City last night.

And as much a part of Walters's television legacy is her impeccable fashion sense, which runs the gamut from crisp-collared shirts and structured skirt suits to bold red carpet gowns. "I've always liked very simple clothes," Walters said of her day-to-day wardrobe. "I have a lot of suits and jackets because I've done so much TV news." Her style staples for on-air? "A black suit and a lot of white blouses. I like clothes that are not so strong that they carry me--I'd rather carry them." We think she does so flawlessly.
