3 new Lubbock city councilmembers to take seats Tuesday

Starting Tuesday evening, Lubbock will have three new city councilmen.

David Glasheen, Brayden Rose and Tim Collins will take the oath of office to represent districts 3, 4 and 6, respectively. They were all unopposed in the May 4 municipal elections.

Jorge Hernández will also be sworn-in for another term as municipal judge. He's held the post since 2016.

A special swearing-in ceremony takes place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Citizens Tower, 1314 Ave. K. A reception will follow. Parking is available in the municipal garage to the south of the tower.

The ceremony will follow a regular meeting of the Lubbock City Council at 3 p.m., where the current council will canvass the results of the May elections and call for a runoff for mayor and city council District 2 on June 15. Outgoing councilmembers will be recognized during the meeting.

The council is also expected to confirm the city manager's appointment of Seth Herman as Lubbock's next police chief and name a new city attorney.
