3 dead, 3 hospitalized after multi-car crash in Berryville

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Three people are dead and three others are injured after a multi-car crash Thursday afternoon in Berryville.

According to a preliminary report from DPS, a 2016 Ford Fusion was exiting a private drive around 5 p.m., turning south onto SH 155 and reportedly failed to yield the right of way to a 2014 Honda Accord traveling north on the road.

Officials said the Accord struck the Fusion, and the Fusion “crossed over into the south lane” where it was struck by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Fusion, identified as Douglas Norwood, 84 of Larue, and Janet Norwood, 78 of Larue, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Elantra, identified as Carol Mitchell, 71 of Lake Lavasu City, Ariz. was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver and another passenger in that same car were taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the Accord was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
