In 2nd fatal Dover shooting this month, 29-year-old man killed Saturday

A 29-year-old Dover man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the same neighborhood where another man was shot and killed earlier this month.

The Dover Police Department was called to a shooting around 4:20 p.m. in the area of New Castle Avenue and East Water Street, where they found the victim with a gunshot wound "to his upper body," police said in a news release. He was taken to the nearby Bayhealth Kent Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

"Detectives are actively working to develop a suspect description and motive for the homicide," the release said.

No other details about the shooting were immediately provided by police. The victim will be identified after his family is notified.

This was the second deadly shooting in Dover this month, the first of which occurred in the same neighborhood, a few blocks away on River Road. In that case, a 17-year-old shot and killed a 54-year-old Seaford man, police said.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333. A cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest, according to the release.
