28 people arrested, 2,000 fentanyl pills seized from popular Salt Lake City trails

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — 28 people were arrested and more than 2,000 fentanyl pills were seized in a multi-jurisdictional drug “clean-up” along Salt Lake City’s Jordan River and Folsom trails on Wednesday.

The arrestees were all booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on drug-related charges, warrants, and probation violations, the Salt Lake City Police Department said.

SLCPD, with the Salt Lake City County Sheriff’s Office, the Utah Department of Corrections Adult Probation and Parole, the Utah Department of Public Safety, the Utah Highway Patrol, the Utah State Bureau of Investigation, and the Utah Department of Natural Resources, have been working on a drug-interdiction operation along the Jordan River Trail since October 2023.

The objective of this operation was to identify, locate, and arrest drug dealers, traffickers, and buyers along the trails, SLCPD said.
