I-215 westbound in Murray to be closed for weekend construction starting March 22

MURRAY, Utah (ABC4) — Motorists looking to take Interstate I-215 this weekend will see delays and detours as the Utah Department of Transportation will be closing westbound traffic in the Murray area for construction.

UDOT Public Relations Director John Gleason said westbound lanes will be closed at the 280 East exit (exit 10) near Fashion Place Mall all the way to I-15 starting Friday, March 22 at 9 p.m. The ramp connecting I-15 northbound to I-215 westbound will also be closed for barrier work starting Friday night through Saturday afternoon.

“All westbound I-215 traffic will be detoured northbound at 280 East to 5300 South. Drivers can then take I-15 southbound to return to I-215 westbound,” stated Gleason in a press release. “Detour signs will be posted.”

I-215 westbound should be fully reopened for the Monday morning commute on March 25.

“On the other side of the I-215 belt, eastbound I-215 will be down to one lane between the 4700 S and Redwood Road exits while crews repair potholes,” stated Gleason.
