21-year-old NC A&T student from Gastonia killed in hit-and-run crash in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A 21-year-old woman has died as a result of a hit-and-run crash in Downtown Greensboro on Saturday morning, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

At around 4:52 a.m. on Saturday, emergency personnel came to the intersection of North Elm Street and East Friendly Avenue after getting a report of a crash.

Police say that North Elm Street was shut down between its intersections with Market Street and Summit Avenue as a result of the crash. Davie Street and East Friendly Avenue were also closed due to the crash.

EMS says that one person suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and that person later died as a result of their injuries.

Police have identified the victim as Xiomara Moore, 21, of Gastonia.

Investigators say that the driver of the other car did not stay at the scene of the crash.

North Carolina A&T State University has confirmed that Moore was a student at the university.

NC A&T released the following statement:

“Aggie Family,

“We regret to inform you that North Carolina A&T student Xiomara M. Moore, 21, from Gastonia, North Carolina, died today, April 13. Xiomara was a junior majoring in health science management in the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences.

“​Xiomara’s death is a great loss to the university community and to all who knew her. Our heartfelt prayers and condolences are with her family and friends.

“Information on services for Xiomara will be shared when it becomes available.”
