$20K worth of allegedly stolen fencing seized from Pinion Hills home

Sheriff's investigators recovered roughly $20,000 worth of stolen fencing from a Pinion Hills property where three stolen pieces of large construction equipment were found last week.

A fugitive sought in an attempted murder case and a registered sex offender were arrested in connection with the alleged theft, authorities said.

Here's what deputies say happened.

The truckload of metal fencing was seized on Wednesday from a home in the 10700 Block of Boy Scout Ranch Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

"The fencing was purchased with stolen credit cards in the Sacramento area and shipped to this address," the agency said in a written statement.

Wednesday's search warrant followed another visit to the property by deputies on May 10, in which three stolen skid steers were recovered, officials said at the time.

Each piece of construction equipment is valued in the tens of thousands of dollars, according to authorities.

Ammunition and drugs were also allegedly found at the property.

Jose Maria Guzman, 38, and Alejandro Gonzalez, 39, both of Los Angeles, were arrested at the home without incident, officials said.

Guzman was described as convicted felon who was being sought in connection with an attempted murder case out of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollenbeck Division, according to sheriff's officials and county booking records.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges of receiving stolen property and being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition, San Bernardino County Superior Court records show. Bail was set at $1.1 million.

Gonzalez, who was described by authorities as a registered sex offender, was booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property and drug possession, records show. He was released from custody pending legal proceedings after posting $30,000 bail.
