2 wanted men arrested in Elizabeth City; 1 connected to shooting of vehicle, police say

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — Two wanted men were arrested this week in Elizabeth City by local law enforcement and a U.S. Marshals fugitive taskforce.

One of them was wanted after a vehicle was shot up on March 7 on Factory Street, police say.

The suspect in that incident, 20-year-old Rontrez Taliq Coleman of Factory Street, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharged a weapon into an occupied vehicle. He’s being held without bond.

The second man, 33-year-old Miguel Yasmir Williams of Herrington Road, faces charges related to possession of a stolen gun and the sale and possession of cocaine, police said. This comes after an incident on Feb. 10 in which Williams had a medical episode and was taken to Sentara Albemarle. An officer confiscated the contraband from Williams then, police said.

Williams is being held on a $250,000 secured bond.

Police say Coleman and Williams’ first court appearances were scheduled for March 28 at 9:30 a.m.
