2 teens arrested, charged in May 2 shooting at Joy Park Homes that left girl injured

Two teens have been arrested in connection to a shooting in Akron earlier this month that left a 15-year-old girl injured.

Police said that in the days after a shooting on May 2 at Joy Park Homes, detectives went through evidence, conducted interviews and looked into tips that led them to two 17-year-old males they say were involved in the incident at Fuller Street and Minson Way.

Police said Thursday that one of the suspects was arrested by detectives without incident Tuesday afternoon on Steiner Avenue in Akron. The second suspect was arrested Wednesday evening by members of the Anti-Violence Bureau in the 20 block of Kimlyn Circle.

Both suspects were charged with felonious assault and transported to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility.

Authorities originally responded to the shooting on the evening of May 2 when officers found the 15-year-old girl on the ground with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers administered emergency aid and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
