$2 million-winning lottery ticket sold in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — Somebody is the lucky winner of a $2 million lottery prize in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing after buying a ticket right here in the Triad.

The winning $3 Megaplier ticket was at Philomena Inc. at 3503 South Church Street in Burlington.

The ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win $1 million. The prize doubled to $2 million due to being a Megapiler ticket; beating 1 in 12.6 million odds.

The lucky winner’s prize was the largest win in the nation on Friday night.

This was not the only win in the Triad on Friday. A $22,500 Keno prize-winning ticket was sold in Jamestown.

Elsewhere in the Tar Heel State, a $10,000 Mega Millions winning ticket was sold in Durham. A $100,000 Cash 5 jackpot ticket was purchased in Cullowhee and an $83,514 Fast Play jackpot winning ticket was sold in Monroe as well.

The winners all have 180 days to claim their prizes.

No one won the Mega Million’s jackpot; so the prize for Tuesday’s drawing now sits at $148 million as an annuity or $67.8 million in cash.
