17-year-old jogger shot while man practices target shooting in Luling

ST. CHARLES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old wounded in Luling on Saturday, April 20.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Cypress Street. A man, later identified as 50-year-old Blaze Gilyot, was target shooting on the levee when a 17-year-old teen, who was jogging, ran into the path of fire and was shot.
Homicide investigation underway in New Orleans East
Once he realized the teen had been shot, Gilyot reportedly assisted the victim until medical services arrived. The 17-year-old was airlifted to a hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Gilyot was charged with negligent injuring and the parish ordinance relative to discharging a firearm in a residential area.
