COALINGA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The person who was killed following a shooting in Coalinga on Tuesday was named by the victim’s family on Wednesday.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the homicide took place around 9 p.m. on the 200 block of E. Houston Street in Coalinga.

In an interview with the family on Wednesday, the victim of the shooting was named as 16-year-old Julian Andrade. The victim’s sister says she found out about the deadly shooting in a video call from her brother.

“He’s telling me, screaming that something happened, that they are shooting, and that my brother is dead,” said Claudia Barquero. “He turns the camera and I see my brother just lying there in a puddle of blood.”

Claudia says she got to the house as fast as she could from her home in Fresno. She arrived to find the window into her brother’s room with bullet holes in it.

Claudia says her brother was playing video games when the shooting took place. She says those responsible walked up to the window and shot Julian multiple times.

“You don’t expect this happening in the comfort of your own home, especially if you’re just playing video games. You know, who would have thought that?”

Julian’s family wants anyone who knows anything about the shooting to come forward.

“If you’re so tough to get behind a gun, come on, pay the price,” said Claudia Barquero. “We just want justice. He was a 16-year-old boy that didn’t deserve this.”

Julian Andrada’s 17th birthday was going to be on April 29. Claudia Barquero says her brother was someone who liked to be around family.

“He liked to play with his nieces and nephews and joke around. He was my annoying little brother,” she said. “He was young. He was just a goofball and very loving and caring.”

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral expenses.

Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office say they do not see this as being a random act and it is possibly gang-related. It is unknown how the suspect arrived and fled, but since the suspect could have been on for, in a vehicle, or on a bicycle, anyone with cameras in the areas of Houston, Lousiana, and Barker Streets, or who might have more information regarding this case, is encouraged to contact Detective Jesse Gloria at 559-600-8217.

The victim’s identity has not been officially released by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office. No arrests following the homicide have been announced at this time.
