16 Central IL agencies hosting drug take-back events Saturday

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — 16 law enforcement and public health agencies throughout Central Illinois are accepting unwanted prescription medicines for disposal on Saturday as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Law enforcement will take prescription drugs that are either unused or expired between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A list of participating agencies and drop-off locations can be found below:

  • Piatt County Sheriff’s Office (1216 Raymond Road, Monticello)

  • Danville Police Department (2 South Street, Danville)

  • Farmer City Police Department (105 South Main Street, Farmer City)

  • Charleston Police Department (411 West Lincoln Avenue, Charleston)

  • Mattoon Police Department (101 Dettro Drive, Mattoon)

  • Le Roy Police Department (110 South East Street, Le Roy)

  • Clinton Police Department (118 West Washington Street, Clinton)

  • Sullivan Police Department (307 South Van Buren Street, Sullivan)

  • Decatur Police Department (707 West South Drive, Decatur)

  • Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department (550 South 10th Street, Watseka)

  • Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (101 North 4th Street, Effingham)

  • Taylorville Police Department (315 North Webster Street)

  • Pana Police Department (108 South Poplar Street, Pana)

  • Sangamon County Health Department (2833 South Grand Avenue, Springfield)

  • Chatham Police Department (117 East Mulberry Street, Chatham)

Some of these agencies, as well as local drug stores, also have permanent drop boxes in their lobbies and stores for disposal at any time of the year.
