14-year-old killed in weekend ATV accident in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A teenage passenger involved in an ATV accident over the weekend has died, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

According to police, Melanie Mozqueda, 14, was riding in a Honda ATV driven by another 14-year-old Saturday, May 11 when it crashed into a Jeep Patriot at about 6 p.m. on Darbytown Drive off Dickerson Pike.

Both Mozqueda and the driver were transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where Mozqueda died. The driver also sustained “minor injuries,” according to police.

Neither teenager was wearing a helmet, police said. The Jeep driver was unharmed.

There was no evidence of intoxication at the scene, MNPD said.
