10 people hospitalized in Fayette Co. crash

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) – Ten people were hospitalized after a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 71 near Jeffersonville in Fayette County Wednesday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) said the crash happened at approximately 4:13 p.m. on southbound I-71 just past the Jeffersonville exit (exit 69).

At least three people were flown from the scene by helicopter to a nearby hospital. The seven other people injured were taken via ambulance to be treated. Their conditions are not known at this time.

The highway patrol said the crash involved two vehicles traveling northbound and two traveling southbound.

I-71 South was completely shut down at the Jeffersonville exit, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said. OSHP said two left lanes on the southbound side have reopened.

The highway patrol remains on scene investigating the cause of the crash.
