1 teen killed, 4 injured in Foresthill crash

(FOX40.COM) — A crash on Tuesday morning near Foresthill resulted in the death of a teen and the injury of four other teens, according to the California Highway Patrol Auburn station.

Authorities say, that at 1:10 a.m., a 2020 Toyota RAV4 driven by a 16-year-old male failed to make a curve along Foresthill Road, east of Mayflower Road.

The vehicle collided into a tree, killing the driver and causing major injuries to the four other teens inside of the vehicle.

On board the vehicle were:
• Driver: Male, 16, of Foresthill
• Passenger: Female, 16, of Foresthill
• Passenger: Female, 17, of Foresthill
• Passenger: Male, 16, of Foresthill
• Passenger: Male, 16, of Newcastle

All of the injured occupants were transported to Sutter Roseville.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Placer Union High School District issued a statement regarding the death and injury of theirs students.

“Foresthill High School, along with the entire Placer Union High School District, is mourning the loss of a student as the result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the early morning hours of March 26, 2024,” the district wrote in a news release.

CHP is looking into the cause of the crash but suspects that alcohol consumption may be a contributing factor.
