Police release name of Wichita shooting victim

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A 33-year-old man has died after someone shot him over the noon hour on Tuesday. The Wichita Police Department said the victim is Norman E. Carter III.

The shooting call came in at 12:11 p.m. from the 1400 block of North Minnesota.

The Wichita Police Department said Carter had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The WPD says officers began life-saving measures until EMS arrived. Carter died a short time later at the hospital.

The WPD said a person of interest is currently detained. A spokesperson said investigators are still investigating the connection between the person in custody and Carter.

Police have not said yet if the shooting happened inside or outside the home at the address.
