1 injured in fire that destroyed RV in Oildale

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One person was injured after mechanical issues in an RV sparked a fire in the Oildale area Monday afternoon, fire officials said.

Firefighters with the Kern County Fire Department were dispatched to the 100 block of Harris Drive for the reports of a motorhome fire at around 12:49 p.m.

Firefighters arrived and found the RV was fully engulfed, according to fire officials. The heat of the fire damaged nearby electrical lines and spread quickly to grass and fences nearby.

Investigation showed the two people were making repairs to the RV when a fire started in the engine compartment.

The RV was a total loss, according to KCFD.

Firefighters extinguished the fire stopping it from spreading to additional properties by using multiple hose lines.

According to the fire department, two people made it out of the RV and one had burn injuries.
