1 dead after train hits vehicle in Kingsburg

KINGSBURG, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A person is dead after being hit by a train in Kingsburg on Thursday night, the Kingsburg Police Department said.

Officers say they responded to the railroad crossing at Golden State Boulevard and Stroud Avenue in Kingsburg just after 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Police say a white SUV was struck by a passing train, which continued southbound. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say that there are crossing arms and are unsure exactly how the collision occurred.

As of Thursday night, there is no information regarding the use of drugs and/or alcohol as a factor in this collision.
