1 dead after being struck by car on Buck Owens Blvd: BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in northwest Bakersfield Friday night, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

BPD said officers were dispatched just before 9:30 p.m. to the 3200 block of Buck Owens Boulevard regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a white hatchback was traveling
northbound while the man was in the northbound lanes outside of a crosswalk when the collision occurred, according to BPD. The vehicle fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

The man’s identity will be released at a later time.
