1 dead, 5 injured, after crash outside Miramichi
A 37-year-old Miramichi man is dead and five more people are injured after a two-vehicle crash near Derby Junction, N.B., just outside Miramichi.
In a media release, RCMP say they were called to the scene of the crash involving an SUV and a pickup truck at around 5 p.m. Saturday.
RCMP believe the accident occurred when the SUV, which was travelling northbound on Route 8, crossed the centre line and collided head-on with the pickup truck, according to the release.
RCMP say the driver and lone occupant of the SUV died at the scene. The five occupants of the pickup truck suffered "significant" injuries, the release states, and were transported to hospital.
