1 dead, 4 wounded in early morning Westwood shooting, Memphis police say

One person has died and four were wounded in a Sunday morning shooting in Westwood, Memphis police said.

Police said Sunday morning five people were shot at 4675 S. Third St., which is located at the intersection with West Shelby Drive. The shooting, police said, occurred just before 5 a.m.

The five shooting victims arrived in a personal vehicle at Methodist South Hospital for treatment, about 4.5 miles from the shooting.

Police responded at the hospital.

There, one person was pronounced dead. Two of the surviving victims were rushed to Regional One hospital, and two remained at Methodist South for treatment.

Memphis police did not provide any identifying descriptions of the victims, such as their ages or names.

The circumstances of the shooting are also unclear.

Police did not provide any preliminary information about events surrounding the shooting, and did not provide any suspect information Sunday morning.
