Southern University student killed in Iberville Parish car crash
WHITE CASTLE, La. (BRPROUD) — An 18-year-old from Brusly was killed in a car crash early Monday morning in Iberville Parish.
The Louisiana State Police said Khai Alexia Walker, 18, was driving a 2009 Acura TL northbound on LA 1 near the intersection of Texas Road. At the same time, a 2015 Ford Tow Truck was traveling southbound on LA 1.
State police said the vehicles hit each other head-on.
“After the initial impact, there was a secondary impact between the vehicles,” state police said.
Walker was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, LSP said. A passenger in the Acura was also not wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious injuries.
West Baton Rouge Parish Schools confirmed Monday afternoon that Walker and her female passenger were graduates of Brusly High School.
A spokesperson for Southern University and A&M College said that Walker was a student.

State police said the driver of the Ford was wearing a seatbelt and was minorly injured. Troopers are still investigating the crash.
