1.6 million Black & Decker steamers recalled due to burn hazard

(WHTM) — Empower Brands is offering consumer refunds after recalling 1.6 million Black & Decker garment steamers this week over concerns of burn hazards.

The recall comes as an expansion of a previous recall of more than 500,000 steamers, issued in November 2022. Now, even models that were repaired in response to the November 2022 recall are also being recalled.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affects Black & Decker Model HGS011 Easy Garment Steamers, which the commission says can expel, spray, or leak hot water during use.
