Azealia Banks Goes After "Lemonade" and Calls Beyoncé a "Thief"
While Azealia Banks originally seemed to be a fan of Beyoncé's visual album, Lemonade, the rapper, singer, and songwriter has experienced a sudden change of heart. On Monday, Azealia took to Twitter to criticize Lemonade and its "broken black female narrative," along with the album's use of religious imagery and witchcraft. Among many other things, she criticized Bey for the price of tickets to her "Formation" tour and for stealing themes from other artists - most notably, Azealia Banks.
Azealia also debuted her music video for "The Big Big Beat" yesterday and decided to tease the BeyHive with a follow-up tweet, knowing she'd likely gotten them very riled up.
In comparison, here are Azealia's tweets about Lemonade from last weekend when it debuted, which seem to tell a very different narrative.
Obviously, Azealia is sending out some mixed messages here - but either way, the BeyHive has already started flooding her social media with bee and lemon emojis as a result.
