'American Idol,' The Day After: Dishing About the Minneapolis & New Orleans Auditions

Last week, my “The Day After” co-host Brandon Rogers and I were all jazzed about the stellar talent found at American Idol's Kansas City and New York audition stops. But this Thursday, when Idol paid a visit to actual jazz hub New Orleans, it was a huge disappointment. (Cue jazzy sad trombone.) And Wednesday’s Minneapolis episode was even worse.

What happened? Where did all the great singers go? They certainly didn’t “turn up for Idol" this week.

But Brandon and I have turned up today to chat about this week’s few-and-far-between standout singers, as well as answer some of your burning Idol questions.

Why didn’t the judges give a golden ticket to promising chanteuse Sarah Quintana? Why did they give a ticket to that terrible drill-team teenbot and that Jerry Lee Lewis wannabe? Can the many contestants who successfully auditioned with original songs adapt in Hollywood Week, when they’ll be forced to do corny covers and step-touch group numbers? Can Idol get back on track at next week’s San Francisco auditions? And where can we get exact replicas of Quentin Alexander’s superfly outfit, so we can wear them to next week’s “The Day After” taping?

Let’s discuss all this and more…
