Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet Will Be 'Visible' at Comic-Con — But Not in the Solo Movie

Those attending this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego will get an up-close-and-personal look at one of DC Comics’ most iconic creations — if, that is, they can actually see it.

We’re talking, as you might have guessed, about Wonder Woman’s famed invisible jet, which despite being, well, invisible, will (according to The Hollywood Reporter) nonetheless make an appearance at the convention as part of DC Comics’ yearlong 75th anniversary celebration of the Amazonian princess warrior. The vehicle, which has long been part of the character’s lore, will light up at night, which should help visitors avoid bumping into it while taking in the rest of the exhibit. And it’ll also be fans’ only chance to catch a glimpse of the plane, as a recent People magazine report indicates that it won’t materialize in the upcoming Wonder Woman solo movie. "There is no invisible jet…. Not in this iteration,” said DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson, though she did say that the movie “will have its own tone and look — it’s beautiful…. There is humor in it, there is real emotion in Diana’s journey in discovering the complexity of man.”

The Comic-Con display should be impressive, including a series of graffiti artworks as well as costumes worn by Lynda Carter in the 1970s TV show, and Gal Gadot in this past March’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as her forthcoming 2017 feature. And it’s merely part of a larger yearlong tribute to the superhero, who’ll also get a comic-book redesign (complete with the same sort of armor worn by Gadot on the big-screen), as well as Wonder Woman-themed retail items from the likes of Valentino, Converse, and Pottery Barn (Princess Diana lamps, anyone?).

All of this is naturally aimed at stoking anticipation for next year’s Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman, which early footage suggests will find the mythical character kicking serious butt in both the past and present day. Its star recently completed her duties on the project, though fans did get a fresh look at the set from newly-released photos published on Facebook which show Wonder Woman’s comrades taking up arms alongside (or is it against?) WWII soldiers on a beach.

Also starring Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Danny Huston, and David Thewlis, Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2, 2017.
