See 'Magic Mike' Sequel Costar Michael Strahan Show Off His XXL Abs

Michael Strahan and Channing Tatum on the ‘Magic Mike XXL’ set

Live! With Kelly and Michael host Michael Strahan is going where no morning chat show personality has gone before: stripping on the big-screen. After announcing in September that he’d be joining the beefcake-laden cast of Magic Mike XXL, the former NFL player is now showing off his ripped physique in a new Instagram pic above alongside the sequel’s visibly impressed star, Channing Tatum.

The photo was snapped on the XXL set in Georgia, where Strahan joined a rowdy crew that includes returning favorites like Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello (no slacker in the bodybuilding department) and such new faces as Donald Glover, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Amber Heard. Their ringleader, Tatum, told Yahoo Movies that XXL would be "insane" as the characters hit the highway for a Last Detail-inspired road movie that may or may not include a pit stop at a drag show. "You gotta pay to see that, brother," is all the 22 Jump Street star would say about that.

Considering those abs Strathan is flashing — which he earned with the help of celebrity fitness expert, Latreal "La" Mitchell — it's no surprise that he immediately got a crash course in objectification. "The way they were looking at me: Men, you better not look at women in that way ever again, because it's uncomfortable," he told his fascinated Live! co-host, Kelly Ripa. "So uncomfortable! I don't know how women wear bikinis around. After every take, I was like, 'Give me my little tearaway underwear please.'"

But he also cautioned viewers that, despite all the "X's" in the movie's title, the stripping action doesn’t actually get X-rated. "It's topless. There are some thongs. And then there are some very little tight…something I've never worn before. Let me put it this way, I was hugged and snugged more than I’ve ever been in that area."

As our below video notes, the original Magic Mike may have shaken up cinema in some significant ways, but going the full monty isn’t one of them.
