Donald Glover on What Scares Him the Most (Flying Monkeys) and Other 'Things We've Always Wondered'

It’s been more than a year since Donald Glover left Community, the show that made him famous (and which is soon coming to Yahoo). But we’ll still be seeing plenty of the 31-year-old performer: His music career — he’s the fire-spitting rapper known as Childish Gambino — seems to be in a perpetual state of ascent, and his acting career couldn’t be healthier.

Case in point: Starting Friday, he can be seen with Olivia Wilde and Mark Duplass in the med-students-playing-God screamer The Lazarus Effect, which comes courtesy of the horror hitmakers at Blumhouse Productions (they of Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and Sinister successes). This summer, he’ll drop trou as an “adorable” stripper in Magic Mike XXL. And in the fall, he’ll appear opposite Matt Damon, Kristen Wiig, and Jessica Chastain in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi flick The Martian.

As Glover also tells us in our latest episode of Things We’ve Always Wondered (which you can watch in full above), he also wouldn’t mind playing Spider-Man one of these days. Among other things the soft-spoken actor revealed: He was terrified by the flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz, once saw a ghost (a “clear man,” to be exact), and since sharing the fact that his stage name came from a Wu-Tang name generator, everyone and their mother — including Jay Leno — tells him their Wu-Tang names.
