Rebecca Romijn might have some beef with the likes of Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid being deemed “supermodels,” but Cindy Crawford and Miranda Kerr are totally on the younger generation’s side.

Crawford, 50, made a point of posing with Jenner at the Met Gala, adding afterward that she thought it was great today’s models had social media to bolster their careers. “I’m so jealous, because I feel they have this direct way to communicate with their audience that my generation didn’t have,” she told Cosmopolitan.com. “I think it’s a responsibility, but it’s also a great tool, because they really can be their own publicists. They can present themselves the way that they want to be presented.”

Kerr also jumped to the girls’ defense at the annual event, telling the New York Daily News that Romijn’s comments were “not very nice. They work hard just like everyone else.”

Recently, Romijn told Entertainment Tonight, “I know a lot of people — legitimate fashion people — can’t stand it. Hate it that these, you know, social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels.” She also noted that Vogue should set the bar higher.

Somehow, though, we think Kendall and Gigi will be able to shake this one off — and their millions of followers would probably agree.
