Candice Bergen Says Her Date with Donald Trump Was 'Short' – but She Does Remember His Burgundy Limo

Candice Bergen could have been a Trump.

"We had a blind date in college," the actress told PEOPLE at the American Songbook Gala Thursday evening in New York City about her brief encounter with Donald Trump.

For Bergen, 70, the sparks just didn't fly. "It was a very short evening," Bergen said. Trump revealed last August that he had asked Bergen out when they were both attending the prestigious Wharton School of Business.

And she still doesn't feel much of a connection to the Republican presidential hopeful. Bergen told reporters that she is a supporter of Hilary Clinton.

"I have no memory of it," Bergen continued of her date with Trump. The only thing that stuck with her was his flair for style. "I just remember that he was wearing a three-piece burgundy suit, and burgundy boots and a burgundy limousine," she said. "He was very coordinated."

Even though she wasn't interested in dating him, there are no hard feelings. "He's always been very nice to me since," she told reporters. The Murphy Brown star went on to marry French director Louis Malle from 1980 to 1995 before settling down with another New York real estate titan – Marshall Rose. Trump, meanwhile, is currently married to Melania Trump.

However, Bergen didn't think Trump was boyfriend material at the time, and she doesn't think he's presidential material now. "I thought it was funnier a few months ago," Bergen said of his campaign.

"Now its worrying."
