  • The Rotation Had Other Plans

In 2017, the Colorado Rockies established a homegrown rotation consisting of Jon Gray, German Marquez, Antonio Senzatela and Kyle Freeland. After a certain point, knowing that these guys would be hot commodities, the Rockies signed three of them to long term contracts, and eventually let the fourth go after 5 or 6 years. Senza and Marquez started the season on the IL, then Freeland joined them.

Family donates $3M to UE Baseball program

The University of Evansville (UE) is elated to announce that Kyle and Ashley Freeland have generously contributed approximately $3 million to facilitate the establishment of a baseball clubhouse for the University which will be known as The Freeland Clubhouse. This is believed to be the largest gift in UE Athletics history. The Freeland's philanthropic gesture will serve as the cornerstone for the initiation of the clubhouse project, a pivotal component of UE's comprehensive athletics strategic plan, Pathway to Excellence. Head Baseball Coach Wes Carroll has diligently cultivated a culture of excellence within UE's baseball program.

Colorado Rockies need even more exciting pitching on the farm

The Colorado Rockies have sludged their way to an 8-27 start to the 2024 MLB season with nearly nothing going well. For those inclined to diagnose the biggest issues, you'll find an offense striking out an exorbitant amount, an apparent allergy to getting the key hit, and a bullpen in shambles. The Rockies have two starters above the league average with Austin Gomber (123 ERA+) and Cal Quantrill (108) while the younger Ryan Feltner (84) and Peter Lambert (83) both have shown growth and promise. Dakota Hudson has been disappointing as was Kyle Freeland before he got hurt but especially over the last several weeks, again when compared to the rest of the team, the rotation has arguably been a strength.
