    Nolan Gorman homered early and added an RBI single during a five-run eighth inning that propelled the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-2 victory against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night. Nolan Arenado, Alec Burleson, Iván Herrera and Gorman hit consecutive singles to start the eighth against Justin Slaten (2-1) as St. Louis immediately reclaimed the lead after the Red Sox pulled even in the top of the inning.

    Entering the Cardinals' series opener against the Red Sox on Friday night at Busch Stadium, Masyn Winn went without a homer in his first 34 games at Busch Stadium. “My mom texted me about a week ago,” said Winn, who traded a game-used bat to get the home run ball from the fan who caught it. It also provided a comeback after some gamesmanship from Red Sox starter Brayan Bello.
