The New York Yankees continue to play great baseball in recent games, sweeping the Minnesota Twins. In a series featuring two of the top teams in baseball, the Yankees pitching staff was elite once again, allowing just one run in three games. It's a promising sign for the team and front office that they've played this way without Gerrit Cole, arguably the best pitcher in baseball. With a loaded farm system ready to make trades heading into the trade deadline, and Cole returning at some point in the season, the future is looking as bright as it ever has for New York.
The Chicago Cubs are in the market for new relief pitchers and have been linked to a couple of names along with already pulling off a trade. Chicago's bullpen is ranked 24th in MLB for staff ERA, so they should absolutely look for help. Tanner Scott is one of the top arms on the trade market, one of the best relievers in baseball last season for the Miami Marlins. Scott has a lot going for him on the surface.
The Philadelphia Phillies could be in the market for a new relief pitcher at the MLB trade deadline. As good as the starting rotation has been for Philadelphia, the bullpen has been a huge disappointment. Gregory Soto and Seranthony Dominguez in particular have been massive letdowns, each with an ERA around 7.00. Mason Miller has been the top name that they are connected to, but could the Phillies look elsewhere?
