Make Cupid’s Arrow Cookies With Your Kids (or Roomies) This Weekend

Worried that Cupid will be too busy this V-Day to strike your sweetie with a love arrow? Well, worry no more, because these arrows are 10 times more powerful than Cupid’s. These are perfect cookies to whip up this February 14 for a Valentine-themed party, your little boo’s Valentines for school, or for munchin’ on while spending the night in.

Ingredients:

– 2 cups butter

– 1 cup sugar

– 2 teaspoons of vanilla

– 4 cups of flour

– icing

Materials:

– knife

– heart cookie cutter

– cake pop sticks

– food coloring

– Wilton Pearl Dust

– parchment paper

– rolling pin

– paint brushes

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Wait until the butter is soft and then mix all ingredients together. Then, chill in fridge for about 2 hours.

2. Roll out the dough until ¼ inch thick. Cut with heart-shaped cookie cutter. Then, roll out another chunk of dough and, using the knife, cut an arrow tail shape.

3. Place parchment paper on the cookie sheet and assemble the arrows. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

4. Melt icing in a pot over medium-low heat. Once the cookies are completely cool, dunk each end into the icing. Pull out immediately and let dry on the parchment paper.

5. Mix Wilton Pearl Dust, a drop of food coloring, and a drop of water together to create an edible paint. Once icing is dry, paint on your cookie.

Mix together the soft butter, sugar, vanilla, and flour.

Stir until it forms dough. You may need to knead with your hands. Once it’s formed into a ball, stick it in the fridge for about two hours. Chilling the dough will prevent the cookies from spreading while baking.

Once chilled, roll the dough and cut out hearts and arrow tips. To really prevent cookies from spreading while baking, only roll the dough out once. You can use the scraps to make circle cookies that can be the bullseyes for your arrows.

Attach the heart and arrow to the cake pop stick. Place them on parchment paper to bake.

Check them out! The last pro tip we can give for avoiding “bloated” cookie arrows is cooking them on parchment paper, which also provides a quick and easy cleanup.

Grossed out by the taste of fondant, but love the smooth finish? Same here. Solution: Melt your icing over the stove. Once it has melted to a soupy texture, dip your cookies in.

image

Dip and reveal! Our pot wasn’t large enough to fit our whole arrow, so we dipped the heart and the tail separately.

The stick really makes its easier to dip and get a smooth finish.

Attach the pieces back together and let them dry.

Time to mix up your edible paint. We used Wilton Pearl Dust mixed with a few drops of food coloring, and then added a drop of water. Stir together to form your paint.

Time to get creative! Polka dots are always a cute choice.

image

The mix of stripes and polka dots really makes this cookie stand out. Almost too pretty to eat! Nope, it’s a cookie. Gonna eat it.

No pattern or combination of patterns is off limits.

Just like Cupid’s arrows, these cookies will definitely make someone fall in love with you.
